Variable Flow for Ultimate Performance
The spinFree nozzle has variable flow capability with a 2 to 1 turn down ratio. Also the nozzle has two inserts to accommodate a wide range of flow rates. (See flow charts) Why is variable flow so important? Historically cooling towers pumps are operated with an on off mode. In other words the pumps are turned on full speed when the tower is operating with no consideration as to climatic temperatures or load demands. Very much attention has been given to the fans with two speed motors and VFD's. Every one takes advantage of the airside and turn fans down in the cool times of the season or when load demands are down. Why don’t they turn pumps off? Because all other cooling tower nozzle will greatly lose the distribution efficiency if design flow, which is full flow is not maintained.
For the first time in the industry when utilizing the SpinFree nozzle pumps can be turned off when climatic conditions or reduced loads exist. This could save significant energy in many cases where multiple pumps or VFD exist on the pumping system.
